Johnson Family Christmas Download

LOL, you can rent or buy the movie I (semi) wrote, Johnson Family Christmas Dinner, on iTunes. They actually have a correct synopsis on the page. However, for some reason they have the wrong screenwriter listed.

I would suggest not renting or buying the movie but you could watch the trailer for free.

Additions

Just wanted to quickly say I added some links to my sidebar ->

I added a link to Smart Reels, a company that Jonathan Hay (roommate) started to help actors improve their reels by tailor making a short film for the particular actor's strengths, look, type, etc. If you know anyone that needs that kind of thing direct them to that.

I also added a link to watch my short film Bedrock. It was shot on HD but the quality on the link isn't great, but it's still alright. My buddy Bryan is the guy in the car, he's an actor out here in LA area.

I am also going to embed it right here but if you missed today's post you can always click on it in my link bar.

Bedrock from Smart Reels on Vimeo.

Also, check out my IMDB page, I have some recent credits to my name. I'm always excited about that.

Ashlea and I had our first pre-marital counseling session today. It went awesome, we're looking forward to more of it.

Congrats to Travis and Rita!!! I wish I could be there.

Pastor Jonesin'

I got a copy of Pastor Jones Preachin' to the Choir yesterday and watched it last night and I have to say, it wasn't that bad!!! This makes me really excited that I can actually tell people that I wrote this movie and I'm semi-proud of it. Sure the audio isn't the best, it's ultra low budget, and there are some other flaws, but the story, a good amount of the acting, and the movie overall is pretty good. A lot better than the other movie I wrote for BlackChristianMovies.com: Johnson Family Christmas Dinner. If I was the "Mad Money" guy and this was "Arrested Development" I would officially move Nu-Lite from Sell to Don't Buy, but since I'm not I'm going to say see this movie.

The beloved Pastor Jones is grappling with yet another crisis affecting his church. The inability of the Pastor's church to pay off a loan has placed his famed choir at risk. In order to save the choir Pastor Jones must bring together its two lead members, sisters Tammy and Louise, who have been at odds. Both women find themselves on an emotional collision course over the future of the choir, all while seeking the approval and attention of the pastor. Pastor Jones must remind the church members that pride is a sin, a sin that is tearing the choir and church apart. The choir enters a local competition that has a surprising effect on Pastor Jones' parishioners. Can the competition bring camaraderie to the church, salvage the faltering group, and save Tammy and Louise's friendship?

I'm excited that the synopsis is actually correct this time.

Hopefully my movie be available on Netflix at some point but I know it'll be at Wal-Mart and other stores May 12th, 2009. So go pick up Pastor Jones Preachin' to the Choir.

And released on the same day, from the director of the 2006 classic Kidney Thieves, check out The Grudge 3 "This time it's Japanese people in Chicago!" (may not actually be the official tagline). I may sound sarcastic, but I actually am going to hopefully do a Grudge trilogy for that.

Marching on

I gave up blogging for Lent, that's why there hasn't been a post in a long time. Just kidding, but I have been preoccupied lately. Ash and I moved in all of her stuff to our new apartment a weekend or two ago and I moved in most of my stuff over the past couple days so my computer has been in a box recently. I have always said 'home is where your desktop computer is.' That's why LAFSC didn't count for really living in California yet because I still had a room at my parents' Cheverly house.

Our new place is awesome, Ashlea is going to take pictures of it today and either she or I will post them on one of our blogs today or soon. It's a two level townhouse-style apartment in Van Nuys. Pretty big kitchen with lots of cupboard space, hardwood floors, big living room, carpeted stairs and upstairs, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and you can see the mountains from our windows. So far I'm loving it.

Kenny just visited, he was a trooper about helping me move some stuff on his vacation. But we also got to have some fun, we went to Venice for his first time. Hung out, watched Let The Right One In. It was awesome to hang with a good friend for a couple days out here. The one thing California is missing is my family/friends.

Alright, I know what you guys really read the blog for, here it is: I saw Andy Dick at the gym (rehab must be going rough for him), I saw Micheal Chiklis (from "The Shield" and he's The Thing in Fantastic Four) coming out of a CVS with presumably his family, and I saw this same girl twice at the gym who I swear is Dakota Fanning but obviously she looks different from the Uptown Girls DVD cover. Kenny made the good point that it's probably her because what other 15 year old girl would go to the gym 2 days in a row in the early afternoon besides Dakota Fanning? You know she has to get into New Moon shape. She can't play vampire baseball the way she was.

Ashlea and I come home for a week, we fly home on Monday. We do have a lot of wedding related stuff to do but hopefully we'll be able to do some visiting with people also. If we don't end up having time don't worry, we'll be home for most of July (Ashlea probably longer than me) so we can get some good hang out time in then after we have everything planned.

Film news: not too much, I got a short produced by SmartReels, a company my roommate Jonathan started. Hopefully that will be posted somewhere soon. You can watch the first one I wrote for them at: http://smartreels.com/index.php/reels it was shot in HD but when it was put on the internet it lost quality so just imagine it looking a lot better. The actor who plays the guy in the car is my friend Bryan Mayer who I met through my roommate Rick at LAFSC. He recently got into SAG so congrats to him. Other than that, Pastor Jones Preachin' to the Choir is supposed to come out in May. When I see that I'll decide if I'm going to write for Nu-Lite again or not.

Also, keep watching "Intervention." There are some great episodes coming. I'm going to keep working for them hopefully at least until right before the wedding.

For laughs, here's Ashlea and my first picture taken together EVER!!

And here's a more recent one:

I guess you can't see our faces too well in that one but you can tell we've changed a bit. I think we both have much better haircuts now. Especially me.

Alright, time to do Saturday stuff. See you soon.

I'll be in Maryland April 6th - 13th so clear your schedules. Pumped for that.

Check out my IMDB page, the link is to the right ->
I just got a few new credits with probably a couple more on the way. One thing to clear up though. I definitely did not write the original Johnson Family Dinner but I have the credit for it right now which I would delete but that page has the correct cast and director info and the Johnson Family Christmas Dinner page has the info for the original. So if you want to correct writer it's on Christmas Dinner, if you want the correct cast it's on regular Dinner.

The other credits are correct though. I should have several more from "Intervention" this season and at least a couple from next season.

Black Christian Movies is still telling me that the other script I wrote for them, Pastor Jones: Preachin' to the Choir is coming out on DVD in May.

Ash and I (mostly Ash, but I have helped too) have been busy preparing for the wedding and such. We got an apartment that Ash will start living in in April and I'll move in later, we went to IKEA today to look at furniture and we bought a refrigerator at Sears. Apartments in California don't come with refrigerators. I wish they did.

I don't have too much more to report. I just had my 23rd birthday and I feel pretty good about that. 22 was an awesome year minus spending all of it away from most of my friends and family.

During 22 I:
- moved to LA
- directed a movie with Steve Holt! from "Arrested Development" in it
- graduated college Magna Cum Laude
- sold two screenplays
- drove across the country twice
- missed home (which isn't necessarily just a physical place but the people too just as much)

For 23 I want to:
- get married
- get a dog
- get a new (better paying) job
- play basketball more often
- be in MD/ Nashville more
- get some new boardshorts and go to the beach a lot
- be a stand up dude

Those aren't too hefty I don't think.

Freshmen Adults

So Ash and I are engaged. We are very, very, very excited about it. We're starting to try and think about beginning to plan our wedding (this July). We're just happy and excited and we thank everyone for the congrats that have been sent our way.

If you check my IMDB profile (link to the right -->) you'll see a new credit... cool. I have 2 credits so far with at least one more on the way.

If you check my IMDB My Movies you'll see what I've been watching this year. Ash and I saw He's Just Not That Into You yesterday and it's set in Baltimore and I'm pretty sure the Jennifer Connelly and Bradley Cooper characters graduated from Towson. For what it was it was OK, but it's a 'chick flick' and it made all women seem like idiots so I don't know why ladies would want to see that.

Anyway, some recent celeb sightings: Giovanni Ribisi at the Farmer's Market, Kerr Smith walking down the street in Sherman Oaks, and the guy from Work Out that I posted a picture of a few posts ago now goes to my gym. I see a couple 'famous' people a week at that gym.

Things are good, I probably forgot some things in this post but I'll update it soon.
